Myrtice Locke was born in Georgia. Her interest in art began in childhood. As a graduate of Art Instruction, Inc., her art studies continued at the Museum of Art, Charlotte, North Carolina.

"My work has involved several media, from pastels, to oils, pen and ink, and acrylic. I challenge myself through change and experience. By using deerskin in lieu of canvas or paper I strive to portray the essence of the animals through creative interpretation. First I photograph or sketch an animal, then change into an original work using reference materials collected through the years. The finished work becomes a composite of photo, reference material and experiences."

"My daughter, Boni's work adds to the feeling of strength and beauty with a taste of mysticism."

Boni Locke was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Ringling School of Art, University of Georgia, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

"The Cherokee heritage of my father, and my mother's interpretations of wildlife had a great influence on me. Having experimented with various mediums; pen and ink, pastels with some acrylic are my favorite to use. Subject matter has always been about people and animals."

"The use of deerskin, feathers, teeth and other parts honors the bearer of these items in my work. Coming full circle, their spirit lives on for others to enjoy and appreciate."
Myrtice and Boni have received numerous awards for their work, and their creations can be found in collections in the United States, Canada, Australia, England and Japan.
